The government has directed authorities concerned to exhibit ‘Tungipara’r Mia Bhai’, a film based on the early life of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in all secondary and higher secondary schools across the country.

The education ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on Tuesday.

In the notification signed by education ministry’s Secondary and Higher Education Division deputy secretary Anwarul Haque, heads of the schools and colleges have been asked to arrange online screening of the film via over-the-top (OTT) platform and exhibit physically after reopening of the educational institutions.

‘Tungipara’r Mia Bhai’ depicts Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s childhood, adolescence and early youth periods. The film is the first of its kind to has been based on the life of Father of the Nation and released by the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) which was established by him, read the notification.

Written by Shamim Ahmed Roni and directed by Shapla Media proprietor Selim Khan, ‘Tungipara’r Mia Bhai’ stars Dhallywood newcomer Shanto Khan and Prarthana Fardin Dighi.

In the film, Shanto Khan essays the role of Bangabandhu while Dighi the role of Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib. The ensemble of cast includes Jayanta Chattopadhyay, Dilara Zaman, Ziaul Hasan Kislu and Shiba Shanu.

Produced by Story Splash Media, ‘Tungipara’r Mia Bhai’ was released in movie theatres in April this year.

The film is available to viewers, free of cost, on the website and app of Shapla Media’s recently launched OTT service ‘Cinebaz’.

However, all secondary and higher secondary educational institutions across the country have remained closed since March last year to curb risks of coronavirus transmission.
