A team of the Kolkata Police on Tuesday afternoon arrested vlogger Roddur Roy from Goa on charges of verbally abusing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during a Facebook Live Session.
A senior police officer confirmed the matter and said that the vlogger will be brought to Kolkata on transit remand and he will be produced at a local court, reports The New India Express.
Earlier on Saturday, an FIR was lodged against Roddur Roy for allegedly abusing the CM of West Bengal on a Facebook Live, PTI reported citing the police.
Roy, who widely uses expletives in his social media posts, often courting controversies, hurled a barrage of abuses at the chief minister and his nephew, besides other members of Trinamool Congress, blaming the ruling party for the alleged mismanagement of singer KK's last concert at Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata.
The singer had collapsed, shortly after his performance at the auditorium, and was declared “brought dead” by doctors when taken to a hospital.
Roy's Facebook Live video has been removed from the social networking site by authorities.
