5 brick kilns fined Tk27 lakh in Natore

The Department of Environment has fined five brick kilns Tk 27 lakh during a drive in Natore’s Gurudaspur upazila on Monday.

Amjad-Mofiz Bricks, Bhai Bhai Bricks, MZB Bricks, MBP Bricks, and SAR Bricks were fined a total of Tk 27 lakh for violating environmental laws.

A team of the Department of Environment led by Executive Magistrate Faizunnesa Akhter conducted the drive in the upazila on Monday afternoon.

Environment Department Inspector Borhan Uddin said in addition to the fine, some parts of the kiln were demolished and the activities of the kilns were stopped.

Owners were warned to operate the kiln following the laws in the future, he said.
