Environment and Social Development Organization - ESDO was awarded the National Environment Award under the category of Environment Education and Awareness on Sunday.
At a function organised at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, the award was given to ESDO for its outstanding contribution to the environmental development of the country, according to a press release received on Monday.
On behalf of ESDO, Executive Director Siddika Sultana received the award.
"It is a moment of great pride for all the members of ESDO who are working tirelessly to build a healthy and sustainable future," she remarked.
ESDO has been working tirelessly to ensure biodiversity since its inception in 1990. ESDO continues to push for a complete ban on disposable plastics across the country. In addition to plastic contamination, ESDO is working on banning mercury products, lead in paints, used lead-acid batteries, PEFAS/Pops, presence of BPA in cash receipts, promoting mercury-free dentistry, zero waste, eraser plates, and working on gender and environment, etc.
