National Cyber Drill on December 12

The second event of the first National Cyber Drill (NCD) 2020, aiming to enhance preparedness against cyberattacks in the country, is going to be held in the second week of December.

The two-day event will be held online from December 12 to 13. It has been organized on the occasion of Digital Bangladesh Day on December 12.

This will be the second episode of the drill that takes place in form of a competition, and it will be attended by information technology professionals of any organization.

Additionally, students who want to build their career in the cyber system will also have the opportunity to gain skills by taking part in it.

The competition will be organized by the Bangladesh Computer Council on behalf of the government's Information Technology Division.

To take part in it, one has to register on the website of the Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT) formed under the Information Technology Division of the government.

According to a report by CIRT, there is a lack of cybersecurity professional as per demand. Therefore, CIRT has taken the initiative of cyber drill.

In the drills, the participants will be trained to detect the virus or to keep the cyber systems active. In this, the teams attack each other's system and work to protect their own system as well as inflict wounds.

Registration for the competition started on November 18 and will end on December 7.

Earlier on October 22, cyber drills were held only for the financial sector. A total of 35 teams from different types of institutions including banks and non-bank financial institutions took part in it.

Of these, 15 were non-bank financial service providers. NCC Bank was the first to get the highest score of 85 in identifying and dealing with cyber risk. The second was Purbali Bank and the third was Information Technology Consultant Limited.

Besides, Bangladesh Bank came 4th, IFIC Bank 5th, Janata Bank 6th, BRAC Net 8th, Bangladesh Commerce Bank 8th, Cyber Defenders 9th and National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC) 10th.
