The government's e-government Computer Incident Response Team (ECIRT) has warned of possible cyberattacks on several important sectors of Bangladesh including those of banks.

On Tuesday, the ECIRT issued the warning and advised the concerned authorities to be cautious. At the same time, if he sees any suspicious incident, he has asked ECIRT to report it immediately. A letter has been sent to the chief executives of the concerned companies on Tuesday.

According to the source, the IT experts of ECIRT have searched and found the malware virus on the websites of some important government departments. This time the virus is exposed. It's more scaring than the previous one. However, IT experts believe that it will be possible to prevent possible cyberattacks by getting early warning signals.

The virus has already been found on the websites of ECIRT, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), Corona BD, an app for coronavirus information exchange, a private bank and several other organizations. The virus is hacking the webpage of BTRC and stealing the information of the customers of different mobile phones. BTRC has a lot of important information for mobile phone customers. This includes records of mobile phone conversations, records of phone calls from abroad or abroad, text messages, and various customer information. BTRC has taken precautionary measures in this regard.

With the Corona BD app, customers are being informed about various information of coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, it is collecting various information from customers. Through this, preventive measures are being taken by identifying the vulnerable areas. The malware virus is trying to launch a cyberattack on this app. The virus has also been linked to online cyberattacks by a private sector bank. The bank has already been warned about this. Based on this, they have taken various precautionary measures.

Tareq M Barkatullah, project director of the government's E-government Computer Incident Response Team, said Bangladesh Bank was receiving information about the installation of modern equipment under the e-govt computer incident response team against cyberattacks on various international organizations. Due to this, it has been possible to identify the malware virus that was sent to carry out cyberattacks earlier. As a result, companies have been warned in advance of the nefarious target of the virus. They have also been able to take the necessary steps to prevent possible attacks.

Earlier, in September last year, a malware virus was sent to launch a cyberattack on the country's financial sector.

A North Korean hacker group sent the virus. However, the virus did not succeed in carrying out the attack as it received a warning signal in advance. It has been phased out from all servers. Then in January of this year, another malware virus was detected. It was centered around the online servers of various companies. It has changed its location and is now on BTRC, Corona BD App and a private bank server.

Sources said that precautionary measures have been taken to prevent the virus from launching cyberattacks on the other side.
