The government is set to launch a platform called BDSkills.gov.bd to ease the recruitment process of IT professionals.

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Division Junaid Ahmed Palak revealed it while addressing a PowerPoint presentation on Saturday on 'BD Skills.gov.bd' aimed at creating a pool of IT professionals.

The platform, developed by the Bangladesh Computer Council’s (BCC) 'Leveraging ICT for Growth Employment and Governance (LICT)' project of the ICT Division, is going to be inaugurated on June 3.

The state minister said the process of selection of qualified candidates, starting from the application for the job is cumbersome, costly and in many cases not possible.

“On the platform, ICT job seekers from different parts of the country can take an aptitude test in various IT subjects. One, who qualifies the tests, will be inducted into a talent pool so that IT companies and employers concerned can recruit qualified graduates on demand,” Palak stated.

He said that the under-construction platform will not only cater to the present demand but also the future. The platform would have in store all the information of the professionals who have passed the exams in IT subjects like PHP, Laravel, programming, coding etc and any organisation can employ them as per their demand.

Sami Ahmed, IT-ITES Policy Advisor of the LICT Project moderated the presentation programme. Among others, NM Ziaul Alam, Senior Secretary of ICT Division, Enamul Kabir, Director (Training) of BCC, Dr BM Moinul Hossain of IIT department of Dhaka University, Raisul Kabir of Brain Station spoke at the programme.
