imo launches ‘multiple account support’ for Bangladeshi users

Communication app imo has recently introduced a new feature ‘Multiple Account Support,’ allowing users seamlessly switch between multiple accounts on a single handset.

The new feature, specifically launched for Bangladeshi users, allows switching between up to five different accounts on the same device, said a press release on Tuesday.

The feature can be accessed by clicking the new “Switch Account” tab on the “Me” setting page. After adding a new account, one can switch from account A to account B without having to restart or log in again. To add a new account, would require an OTP verification to ensure account safety, the release added.

According to a user survey conducted by imo, nearly 64 per cent Bangladeshi imo users do not have their own smartphones, while 49 per cent users share phones with their family members for communication.

The data shows a strong demand among imo users to be able to switch between accounts on the same device, said the release.

Over 96 billion texts and 26 billion audio and video calls were made by Bangladeshi imo users in 2020, said the release.

Bangladeshi imo users also saved up to 150 million gigabytes of data in 2020 in video and audio calls because of its low data consumptions, the release added.
