Infrastructural facelift in ICT sector to continue

Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has said the government is formulating and implementing various action plans for the betterment of ICT sector.

The minister said this while placing a Tk 6,03,681 crore budget for the next fiscal year at the national parliament on Thursday.

Kamal said that high-speed internet connection has so far been established through in 18,434 government offices and 2,600 unions across the country.

“The National Data Center (Tier-III) is providing mail domain, website and application hosting, co-location services, cloud services uninterruptedly,” he added.

The government has also set up Bangladesh National Digital Architecture platform to ensure inter-portability among all government offices, the minister said.

The minister said that Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority is setting up 39 high-tech parks or software technology parks in different parts of the country, out of which seven are ready for investors.

Besides, construction of Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City in Kaliakair, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-Tech Park in Sylhet, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-Tech Park in Rajshahi are underway, the minister said.
