bKash, a mobile financial service provider, has temporarily suspended transaction with Evaly and nine other e-commerce platforms on Saturday.
The other e-commerce platforms are Alesha Mart, Dhamaka Shopping, E-orange, Sirajgonj Shop, Aladiner Prodip, Qcoom, Boom Boom, Adyan Mart and Needs. The ban comes as per a directive from the Bangladesh Bank.
“We are working closely with the government to implement regulatory guidelines of payment system gateway for e-commerce in line with the Bangladesh Bank directives,” Shamsuddin Haider Dalim, head of corporate communications of bKash, told The Business Post.
In the meantime, to protect customers’ interests, bKash has also temporarily suspended its payment gateway service for few merchants, he added.
“When the payment system is implemented in compliance with the regulatory guidelines, bKash Payment service will be launched again,” he added.
Earlier, several financial institutions, including Brac Bank, banned transactions for the respective 10 e-commerce platforms.
