Banks see no rush after Eid holidays

Staff Correspondent

Transactions and other banking activities resumed on Sunday after Eid-ul-Azha but there was hardly any pressure of customers after the five-day holiday.

During a visit to the head offices and other branches of several banks in Motijheel and Gulshan in the city, our correspondent found that the presence of customers and bank officials were lower than regular days.

This is the normal scene after Eid holidays, bank officials said.

They said that strict restrictions on people’s movement to prevent the spread of Covid-19 infections also discouraged clients from visiting bank branches in person.

A number of people were seen transacting at the branches of public

and private commercial banks in Motijheel.

As it was the first working day after Eid, there was no rush of clients but a good number of people came to withdraw money, said Agrani Bank General Manager (principal branch) Md Mozammel Hossain.

Sonali Bank deputy General Manager (local office) Md Maniruzzaman said clients conducted small-scale money transactions. During the business hour, customers mainly came to withdraw money. Besides, there was a little pressure to withdraw from saving certificates.
