India’s Ministry of External Affairs has proposed to start special flight operations between Bangladesh and India from September 3 under the air bubble agreement during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh will take a decision on this issue on Sunday.
CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman told The Business Post that India sent a proposal with several conditions to start special flights. “We will take a decision in this regard on Sunday,” he said.
The High Commission of India in Dhaka on July 14 sent a request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh over the air bubble agreement.
According to The Indian High Commission, continued suspension of the air travel and closures of land borders limitations on passenger movement was causing considerable difficulties for travel between the two countries.
The CAAB then agreed to resume flights on some conditions including allowing vaccinated passengers home quarantine and a 14-day institutional quarantine for non-vaccinated passengers.
The CAAB officials said their Indian counterpart did not response on the conditions then. Any airlines operating flights with India have to obey Covid-19 conditions, the CAAB said.
