LPG increased price effective from today

The new price for 12kg LPG cylinder, set by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission, will be effective from today.

Through a virtual press conference, the commission on Tuesday increased 12kg LPG cylinder price to Tk 1,033, up by Tk 40.

Earlier, the price of 12 kg LPG cylinder at retail level was fixed at Tk 993 in August, Tk 891 in July, and Tk 842 in June.

The new retail price includes Valued Added Tax (VAT).

However, at government level, the price of a 12 kg LPG cylinder will remain at Tk 591.

Besides, BERC re-fixed the price of autogas at Tk 50.56 instead of Tk 48.71 per litre. The price of a litre of autogas was fixed at Tk 48.71 in August and Tk 44 in July.

BERC announced the new price of LPG after adjusting it with Saudi Contract Price (CP) as the local LPG operators import the bulk petroleum gas from the Middle East.

Some 20 private companies dominate the local LPG market with more than 95 per cent market share through an annual import of 1.2 million metric tons while the LP Gas Company supplies only 25,000 mts.

Usually, Armaco, the largest company in Saudi Arabia, announces its CP for bulk LPG at the concluding state of every month for the next month’s transactions.
