Normalcy returns to Indo-Bangla land ports

Normalcy returned to Benapole, Akhaura, Hili, Burimari, Darshana and Sonamasjid land ports on Thursday after authorities concerned withdrew Covid restrictions.

A government circular said travellers would not need any No Objection Certificates from their respective governments while crossing the borders.

However, a RT-PCR Covid-19 negative certificate, conducted within the last 72 hours, will be needed to enter Bangladesh. During Covid-19, the borders were partially active for limited time on specific conditions.

The two countries also agreed to resume operation of Shewla, Tamabil, Bangla Bandha, Bhomra and Biral land ports from September 19, the circular issued by Bangladesh government said.

Any foreigners without final dose of Covid-19 vaccine or booster dose will need Rapid Anti-Gen Test report within 24-48 hours even after having RT-PCR negative report.
