Evaly chairman, CEO face another lawsuit

A businessman has filed a lawsuit against the Evaly Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Rassel and his wife Shamima Nasrin, also chairnan of the e-commerce platform, alleging fraud, embezzlement, and intimidation.

Kamrul Islam Chaklader, a supplier, filed the case with Dhanmondi Police Station early Friday, confirmed Officer-in-Charge Ekram Ali Mia of the police station.

Ekram said the businessman also accused 10 other officials of Evaly as well as 15-20 unknown people.

The businessman supplied goods worth Tk 35,85,582 to Evaly’s Dhanmondi office, but the e-trader did not pay his dues.

The other accused in the case are Evaly vice-president Akash, Manager Jahedul Islam, Senior Accounts Manager Tanvir Alam, Senior Executive (Commercial) Jawadul Haque Chowdhury, Head of Accounts Selim Reza, Accounts Manager Zubair Al Mahmud, Accounts Officers Sohel, Akibur Rahman Turzo, Rassel’s personal secretary Md Rezwan and Shakib Rahman of Bike Department.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told reporter at the Secretariat on Sunday that a few more e-commerce companies like Evaly have cheated people out their fortune.

“I do not know how they will fulfill their commitment given to their customers. If they do not keep their promise, our lawmen will take action against them,” said the home boss.

“I want to say through the media that those who want to invest into the e-commerce, please, think well about various offers as to whether they are real or temptation before you go for them.”
