Govt to procure 11cr syringes for Covid-19 vaccination

The government has approved a proposal in principle to procure some 11 crore auto disable (AD) syringes and also even more in future as per the requirements from JMI Syringes and Medical Devices Limited to bolster the government’s drive to control the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

The approval came on Wednesday from the 26th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) virtually with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, the Finance Minister said that the Directorate General of Drug Administration under the Health Services Division would procure these syringes.

He said that JMI is a well reputed company and only syringes would be procured from them under the proposal.

Kamal said the day’s CCEA meeting gave approval in principle to another proposal for procuring additional 80,000 metric tons of HFO by the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) through G2G basis from the supplier on emergency basis.
