Covid-19 positivity rate drops below 3% after 7 months

Bangladesh reported 18 new coronavirus-related deaths and 617 new cases in a 24-hour period till 8:00am on Sunday.

Continuing a downward trend, the positivity rate dropped further down to 2.90 per cent from Saturday’s 3.41 per cent. The positivity rate fell below 3 per cent after more than seven months, Back in February 28, the rate was 2.87 per cent.

The overall caseload now stands at 15,57,964 and the total fatalities at 27,573 according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 21,246 samples at 821 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 97,10,699 samples. Meanwhile, 1,112 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,18,758.
