‘Mohibullah’s killers to be brought to justice soon’

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Sunday said killers of Rohingya leader Md Mohibullah will be brought to justice soon.

“Investigation is underway to find out real cause of the Rohingya leader killing and the suspects will be brought to book soon,” he told reporters after a meeting on Sharadiyo Durgo Utsab security arrangements at his ministry conference room. Senior secretary of public security division Mostafa Kamal Uddin, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed, Director General (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun and concerned officials were present in the meeting.

The minister said Rohingya leader Muhibullah was vocal for sending the Rohingyas back to their homeland, adding, “The law and order situation in the Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar is normal.”

He said construction work is underway to erect a barbed wire fence around the Rohingya camps, which will be completed in a few days. The government has been also setting up watch towers at Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar aimed at ensuring security.

“The law and order situation is still good as our law enforcement forces are doing a good job in coordination with the army. Cox’s Bazar is a tourist destination where millions of tourists are going. Everything is in good condition because our security forces are working there,” Kamal said.

On the occasion of the Durga Puja, the greatest religious festival of the Hindu community, the law enforcement agencies will take tight security measures for ensuring peaceful celebration of the Puja, he said.

Special steps would be taken, including deployment of police forces along with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Ansar-VDP and community police to ensure peaceful celebration of Durga Puja festivity, he said.

“We have taken adequate security steps to ensure peaceful celebrations of the Puja,” the minister added.
