Grameenphone Q3 earnings fall

Grameenphone Limited, the country’s largest mobile phone operator, has witnessed a fall in the earnings per share (EPS) in the third quarter of this year compared to the same period a year earlier.

Its EPS stood at Tk 6.34 from July through September this year, up from Tk 6.59 recorded in the corresponding period a year ago, said Grameenphone in a filing with the Dhaka Stock Exchange on Thursday.

Its net asset value (NAV) per share stood at Tk 30.82 as of September 30, 2021.

Grameenphone’s revenue stood at Tk 3,621 crore for the third quarter of 2021, registering a 1.8 per cent growth from the same period last year.

It has acquired 16 lakh new customers during the period and the customers stood at 8.36 crore, according to its third quarter’s results published on Thursday. Of the figure, as many as 4.61crore internet users accounted for 55.1 per cent of the total subscribers.

During the third quarter of this year, Grameenphone invested Tk 192 crore for expanding its network, said the statement.

It paid Tk 7,920 crore equaling 74.2 per cent of its total revenues to the national exchequer in the form of taxes, VAT, duties, fees, 4G license and spectrum assignment in the first nine months of 2021, it said.

“Grameenphone remains committed to meeting customers’ demand for high-speed internet connectivity and improving customer experience, continuing with network rollout and spectrum deployment in the third quarter,” said Grameenphone CEO Yasir Azman.
