Job seekers demand test cancellation

Jobseekers on Sunday demanded cancelation of preliminary tests of five banks held under the Bangladesh Bankers Selection Committee over the allegation of question paper leak.

The protesters staged a rally in front of the Bangladesh Bank (BB) and submitted a memorandum to the BB Governor Fazle Kabir seeking cancellation of the exams. The tests were held at different centres in the capital.

The job seekers alleged massive irregularity and mismanagement in preliminary tests for cashier posts of five banks. The tests were held on November 6.

The answer sheets of the examinations were available on the social media even before the exams were held, they alleged.

Moreover, some of the protesters also alleged that in some examination centres, examinees were allowed to continue writing even after the exam time was expired.

They also alleged shortage of examination invigilators, delay in question paper distribution and severe mismanagement during the exams.

A total of 16,427 job seekers participated in the tests of five banks against 511 posts in five banks on Saturday afternoon.

Momin, one of the job seekers told the Business Post that the organisation which operated the intake tests faced criticism over the question paper leakage previously.

“Why the same organisation in question got responsibility to prepare question paper again? These exams should be taken under the Public Service Commission (PSC) to avert irregularities”, he demanded.

Bankers Selection Committee Member and Central Bank Executive Director, Humayun Kabir said a portion of aspirants sought cancellation of exams.

An allegation of question paper leak was raised, he said, adding that “Legal action will be taken if any evidence of question paper leakage is found or anyone found involved in the matter.”
