Govt issues notification re-fixing launch fare

The Ministry of Shipping issued a notification on Monday re-fixing fare of passenger-bound launch.

According to the notification, per kilometre fare for every passenger has been re-fixed as Tk 2.3 up to 100 kilometres while per kilometre Tk 2 for above 100 kilometres.

Tk 0.60 has been increased for per kilometer fare for both up to 100 km and above 100km while minimum fare for per person has been re-fixed as Tk 25.

The re-fixed fare would be effective from today. Earlier, the fare for passenger launch was re-fixed in 2013.

In 2013, per kilometre fare for up to 100km was Tk 1.7 and Tk 1.4 for above 100km. Minimum fare for per person was Tk 18.

The ongoing launch strike was withdrawn on Sunday after the government increased its fare by 35.29 per cent in line with the recent transport fare hike.

The decision was taken following a meeting between Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and launch owners in the capital on Sunday.
