Two officials of the Bangladesh Bank have been suspended over their involvement in fraud in hiring closed-circuit television (CCTV) operators at the bank.
They are joint directors Almas Ali and Abdulla Al Mabud.
A high official of the central bank said punitive action had been taken against them.
Bangladesh Bank Executive Director and Spokesperson Md Serajul Islam told The Business Post the two officials had been suspended based on allegations against them, but the matter was still under investigation.
He said the CCTV operator recruitment test had been cancelled in the wake of the fraud allegations.
Fraudulence in bank recruitment tests recently caused a stir, with the Bangladesh Bank cancelling last Saturday’s preliminary examinations for appointing cash officers at five banks over question paper leaks.
