Three held for breaking into bank vault

Police arrested three people during their bid to loot money from the vault of a sub-branch of IFIC bank’s Badda branch in the city yesterday.

The arrestees are Md Rubel, Hridoy, and Mamun. Abul Kalam Azad, the officer in charge of Badda Police Station confirmed the matter to The Business Post and said that “the arrestees are being interrogated”.

However, it is not yet known whether they are professional bank robbers or not, he added. The CCTV camera operator of IFIC bank’s head office called national emergency service number 999 after he found that a man was trying to break the vault at the booth entering there breaking a wall. Inspector (investigation) of Badda police station Nure Alam Masud Siddique said a team of police rushed to the spot after getting the call and arrested a man from inside the booth.

Confirming the matter, Badda police station Inspector (Investigation) Md Abu Sayed Miah said they caught a robber early Saturday upon receiving a call via national emergency service (999) when the security guard noticed the trespasser in the CCTV camera.
