Nine organisations will be awarded as the highest Value Added Tax (VAT) payer this year by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) on the National VAT Day on December 10.

Aristopharma, Square Toiletries, and Maya Bidi Factory will be awarded in the manufacturing category while SM Motors, MCO Bajaj International, and Union Motors will get the award in the business category.

Besides, the top three VAT payers in the service category are edotco Bangladesh Co, Grey Advertising Bangladesh, and Robert Bosch (Bangladesh).

The NBR’s VAT wing released the list of awardees on Wednesday.

The awardees were selected based on the VAT paid in the fiscal year 2019-20.

Organisations having the Electronic Business Identification Number (e-BIN) that regularly issue VAT receipts to consumers and deposit the collected VAT in the government treasury are considered eligible for the award.

VAT payers at the district level will also be awarded. 102 companies will be awarded in the three categories as the top VAT payers. The NBR’s VAT wing has been regularly honouring the top VAT payers for several years.

As the country’s Covid-19 pandemic situation has become somewhat normal, the NBR has decided to mark the VAT day on December 10.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal is expected to be the chief guest at the event.

The National VAT Week will be observed from December 10 to 15.
