The government has reduced the price of 12kg liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders by Tk 85.
Such cylinders will now cost Tk 1,228, down from Tk 1,313.
The new rate will be effective from today.
Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced the new price after a meeting on Thursday.
It said prices of other LPG cylinders of different sizes would be reduced by Tk 7 per kg.
Besides, the price of auto gas was decreased to Tk 57.28 per litre, effective from today, which was Tk 61.18 in November.
On November 4, BERC set the price of 12kg LPG cylinders at Tk 1,313 for that month.
It fixed the retail prices of LPG for the domestic market on April 12 this year for the first time considering the Saudi Aramco contract price (CP) of the previous month, which was the highest in several years.
At the time, a 12kg LPG cylinder price was Tk 975.
BERC increased LPG prices five times since April.
Industry insiders said most Bangladeshi private companies import bulk LPG from the Middle East based on the Saudi Aramco CP and then market it locally.
