A fresh case has been filed against nine officials of controversial e-commerce firm Evaly on charges of embezzling money through fraudulence.

Singer and Evaly’s Chief Goodwill Officer Tahsan Khan, actress and Head of Public Relations of the platform Sabnam Faria, and its Brand Ambassador Rafiath Rashid Mithila were sued in the case among others.

Saad Sam Rahman, an aggrieved customer, lodged the case with Dhanmondi police station on December 4.

The plaintiff said that he placed an order for a motorbike paying Tk 3.18 lakh but yet to receive it. “I trusted the celebrities who used to campaign for the e-commerce firm. I believed because of their presence the firm would not deceive me.”

The celebrities, however, earlier claimed that they already distanced themselves from the activities of the e-commerce outlet. Other accused in the case are — Evaly Chairman Shamima Nasrin, her husband and the company’s Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Russel, Vice-President Akash, Chief Marketing Officer Arif R Hossain, Category Head Mohammad Abu Taher Saddam, and Executive Operations (bike) Md Abu Tayesh.

Meanwhile, the Rapid Action Battalion arrested Shamima and Russel on September 16.

The couple has already been sued in a number of cases on charges of misappropriating money and fraudulence.

Dhanmondi police station Sub-Inspector Md Rajib Hasan, also the investigating officer of the case, said they were investigating the involvement of the accused.

“Action will be taken if they are found involved in fraudulence.”
