The government will start administering Covid-19 booster shot campaign for frontliners and people aged 60 and over on Tuesday.

The authorities have completed the upgrading of the Surokkha app, the chief of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said on Monday.

“The website will be open for booster shot registration on the same day,” he said.

People eligible for booster dose will have to access the online platform using their vaccination card information and will find a new option for the booster dose, he said.

“They have to wait for the SMS to get an appointment, just like the first and second doses,” said DGHS Director General ABM Khurshid Alam.

Several booster dose recipients have already got appointment for the shot, which means the drive starts from Tuesday, he added.

The chief of the health directorate of Dhaka Division said that they have been informed about it, but were waiting for details.

“We have already completed our preparation about administering the booster dose at the permanent centres. According to the instructions we have received, people aged above 60 and frontliners would get the shot,” he added.
