Amid Omicron spread, the Indian health ministry has mandated all international passengers arriving into India to quarantine themselves for seven days and get tested on the eighth day of their arrival.

“All passengers (including those 2% who were random tested upon arrival and found negative) will undergo home quarantine for seven days and shall undertake RT-PCR test on the eight day of arrival in India),” said a notification from the health ministry, report the Economic Times.

Travellers must additionally upload the results of repeat RT-PCR test for Covid-19 done on eighth day on Air Suvidha Portal. “If the test results are negative, they will continue to self-monitor for the next seven days,” the notification added.

The health ministry has also maintained its previous policy of testing all passengers arriving from countries categorised by the Indian government as “at risk.”

Upon arrival in India, all travellers from at-risk nations will be examined. Passengers have been encouraged to schedule their examinations ahead of time.

Countries throughout Europe and the United Kingdom, as well as South Africa, Israel, China, Hong Kong, Brazil, Mauritius, and other African countries, are currently on the list of at-risk countries.
