Covid: Daily positivity rate drops to 31.10%

Bangladesh on Saturday recorded another 10,378 new cases of Covid-19, with the country’s daily test positivity rate declining slightly to 31.10 per cent.

During this time, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) recorded 21 more coronavirus related deaths as the total death toll reached 28,329 and positive cases 17,73,149 since the country first detected Covid patient on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

On Friday, the positivity rate hit 33.37 per cent, a record high.

Previously, the daily case positivity rate reached its peak 32.55 per cent on July 24 last year.

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 33,373 samples at 865 laboratories across the country.

Bangladesh has so far tested 1,23,90,318 samples. Meanwhile, 1,109 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24 hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,63,478.

The test positivity rate has been witnessing an upward trend since the start of the new year, rising from 2.43 per cent on January 1.
