30 deaths, 9,052 fresh cases in last 24hrs

Bangladesh on Friday recorded another 9,052 new cases of Covid-19, with the country’s daily test positivity rate declining slightly to 22.95 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) also recorded 30 more coronavirus related deaths, taking the total death toll from the deadly virus in the country to 28,524.

Bangladesh’s total number of positive cases now stand at 18,44,828 since the country first detected Covid patient on March 8, 2020.

On Thursday, the positivity rate was at 25.86 per cent.

The daily case positivity rate reached its peak of 33.37 per cent on January 28 this year.

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 39,445 samples at 868 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 1,26,52,514 samples.

Meanwhile, 6,282 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24 hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,87,374.

The test positivity rate has been witnessing an upward trend since the start of the New Year, rising from 2.43 per cent on January 1.

Among the new deceased, 19 were men and 11 women.

Seventeen deaths were reported in Dhaka division, five in Chattogram, three in Sylhet, two each in Rajshahi and Khulna and one in Barishal

Meanwhile, the mortality rate remained static at 1.55 per cent. However, the recovery rate declined to 86.04 per cent.
