The passengers of Metrorail, which is set to run in December from Uttara to Agargaon, are het up over the likely bottleneck that will be created in the last station.

The government has scheduled the inauguration of Metrorail in December, but is yet to finalise available arrangement for transportation from Agargaon to elsewhere the commuters are required to travel.

“I am really concerned about how to go to my workplace in Motijheel from Agargaon where the Metrorail will stop and where there will be a huge rush of passengers to catch other transport to move to their destinations,” said Monirul Islam, a banker living in Uttara.

“There are not enough buses to come by from Agargaon to Motijheel.”

Talking to a number of passengers, it was known that all have the same apprehension.

They said not only Motijheel, there are not enough buses for travelling On the matter, Member of the Physical Infrastructure Division under the Planning Commission Mamun Al Rashid said, “We have held a project evaluation committee (PEC) meeting regarding this project on January 31.

“We have cleared the revision and sent a proposal to the ECNEC for final approval. The Planning Commission later sent the proposal to the Economic Relations Division, who then forwarded it to JICA, seeking their consent regarding the additional funds.”

He, however, added that JICA has yet to respond on the matter.
