Trains will be running at full capacity from Wednesday, around 24 days after the authorities had directed to run with half capacity due to the rise of Covid-19 infection in the country.

Half of the total tickets of intercity trains will be sold at stations while the rest through online, confirmed the Bangladesh Railway Authority through a press release on Monday.

The press release claimed that in order to meet passenger demands, it has been decided to run trains at full capacity.

The press release further said that Bangladesh Railway will sell 50 per cent of the tickets through its mobile phone app or online and the rest will be available at station counters.

The sale of standing tickets for intercity trains and station platform tickets will be totally closed, said the press release.

However, bedding can be provided at night, as long as the hygiene rules are strictly followed, it added.

We will operate the service by following health guideline.

“Currently the trains are carrying passengers at half capacity but it will start carrying full passengers from Wednesday,” he added.
