Stranded Bangladeshi sailors set off for home

The 28 Bangladeshi sailors who were stranded onboard the MV Banglar Samriddhi in war-torn Ukraine have started their journey back home.

“After spending around 39 hours in a Ukrainian bunker near the port of Olvia, the crew members safely reached Romania through Moldova Saturday afternoon,” said Bangladesh Shipping Corporation Deputy General Manager (chartering, planning) Captain Md Mujibur Rahman.

“The crew is expected to return home from Romania as soon as possible,” said the BSC official adding that the Bangladesh embassies in that region were coordinating the evacuation process.
