Banking hours set for Ramadan

The Bangladesh Bank has fixed office hours for all commercial banks from 9:30am to 4:00pm during the month of Ramadan.

In a circular issued on Wednesday, the central bank said bank officials will also be facilitated with a prayer time from 1:15pm and 1:30pm during the holy month.

After Ramadan, the office and transactions time of the banks will be reinstated to regular working hours, the circular reads.

In another development, the stock exchanges have also announced a new trading time during the holy month of Ramadan beginning on Sunday.

The trading will open as usual at 10:00am and the closing time would be 2:00pm instead of 2:30 pm, according to a notice sent to the stockbrokers on Wednesday. The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) have shortened the trading hours in line with the banking hours set by the Bangladesh Bank.
