The cross-border train service between Bangladesh and India resumes on Sunday after two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Maitree Express service between Dhaka-Kolkata leaves Cantonment Station for Kolkata at 8:15am with 165 passengers.
Director-General of Bangladesh Railway Dhirendra Nath Majumder officially inaugurated the train service. “Maitree Express now will run five days a week. The train has a total of 456 seats”, he said.
Moreover, the new Mitali Express Service between New Jalpaiguri and Dhaka will be flagged off virtually by the railway ministers of India and Bangladesh on June 1. It will start from New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal.
