LPG prices cut by Tk3 per kg

Price of liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) price has decreased by Tk3 per kg while the price of a 12-kg cylinder has dropped by Tk35.

Similarly, the auto gas price has also decreased. The new prices were announced at an online press conference organized by Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on Tuesday.

The new prices came into effect from 6pm on Tuesday.

BERC has fixed TK101.62 per kg LPG which was Tk104.52 in July. Accordingly, the price of a 12-kg cylinder will now be Tk1, 219, which was Tk1, 254 in July. It was Tk1, 242 in June and Tk1, 335 in May.

Meanwhile, the commission has fixed the price of auto gas at Tk56.85 per liter which was Tk58.46 in July.

Apart from this, the price of LPG for central users in households has decreased slightly. The reticulated per kg LPG price has been fixed at TK98.38. But the government LPG price has remained unchanged.

BERC Chairman Abdul Jalil, Secretary Khalilur Rahman, Member Maqbul E Elahi Chowdhury, Abu Farooq, Bazlur Rahman and officials concerned were present at the press conference.

BERC said according to the Saudi CP, the price of propane and butane decreased from $725 to $670 and from $725 to $660 per tonne respectively.

This new price in domestic market has been fixed considering the mix ratio of propane and butane, the BERC told.

MD Abdul Jalil, Chairman of the BERC told the press conference that despite the decrease in LPG price in global market the taka has been depreciated against the US dollar and VAT has increased.

All in all, the price of per kg LPG could not be reduced much. Although the price of LPG in the world market has decreased, the price has increased due to the devaluation of taka against the dollar, he said.
