The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations for the academic session 2022 will start from November 6 under 11 education boards across the country.

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka on Monday released the HSC exam schedule for all general education boards.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board also uploaded an exam routine on its website on the same day mentioning that Alim (equivalent to HSC) exams would also begin on November 6.

Dhaka Board Examination Controller Prof Abul Bashar said the theory tests of the HSC will end on December 13 and the practical exams will start on December 15 and will end on December 22.

The HSC and equivalent examinations for 2022 will be shorter, with fewer total marks, as per the education ministry’s directives.

As per the decision taken by the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, the exams will be two hours long – 20 minutes for MCQ part and 1 hour and 40 minutes for written part. Before the pandemic, the HSC and equivalent exams were three hours long.

All examinees have been requested to enter their respective exam halls 30 minutes before the starting time, and put their roll and registration numbers carefully.

Bringing mobile phones is strictly prohibited for the examinees. Only respective officials of the exam centres can use cell phones.

Students would be allowed to use only general and scientific calculators but no calculating devices having other applications.

The SSC and HSC exams are usually held in February and April respectively but the government had to defer both the exams this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic and flood in the country.

In last year, the SSC and HSC exams were held in November and December, 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Before that, with the start of the pandemic in Bangladesh, all educational institutions were shut down in 2020, there were no HSC exams, and students were promoted automatically.
