As the country is grappling with spiralling numbers of job seekers; getting jobs have become a matter of diligence and hardship but sometime quitting a job can also bring forfeit.
Md Miraj Khan, former assistant engineer (Chemistry) of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) who resigned from his post at Ashuganj Fertilizer and Chemical Company Limited (AFCCL), has to pay fine for not following the code of conducts. Moreover, he won’t get any pension facility for quitting the job early.
Hundreds of people fight for acquiring a permanent job which ensure salary and pension facility after retirement. But, after getting employed, leaving a job also require observance of company regulations which was evident in the case of Miraj Khan.
On Monday, BCIC issued a notice seeking Tk 2,84,300 arrears from Miraj Khan for abruptly submitting resignation from his post.
Employees have to provide notice, three months before resigning from their posts, according to section 55 of organisation’s employment policy, 1988. Otherwise, they will have to pay similar amount of their three months’ basic salary to the organisation.
Miraj Khan whose three months’ basic salary was Tk 84,300, left his job without submitting any prior notice on August 27. Including training and other facilities, BCIC has sought Tk 2,84,300 from Miraj.
He has to pay the money at the accounts section of Ashuganj Fertilizer and Chemical Company Limited (AFCCL) within 15 days.
After making payment he will have to submit the money receipt to the BCIC administration when the organisation will consider about the resignation. Otherwise, legal action will be taken against him.
