No load-shedding in DPDC areas

After months of regulating power outages to cope with the ongoing energy crises, the Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC)’s website on Friday evening showed a long-awaited notice that read, ‘No load shedding currently in any DPDC areas’.

No load shedding had been scheduled in the distribution area of DPDC for the day as well, according to the notice section of the website that shows the locations where load shedding might occur.

The state-run company serves a total of 1.021 crore users under its jurisdiction in the capital and adjoining Narayanganj area.

However, DPDC, in its website, said load shedding may be imposed on the basis of allocation received by National Load Dispatch Center (NLDC).

The largest electricity distributor company in the country has requested their clients to visit the official website from time to time for latest updates.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Electric Supply Company (DESCO) said there may be load shedding for two hours or more in their service areas in Dhaka north and a portion of Gazipur city.

According to DESCO, most areas under its jurisdiction are experiencing scheduled load shedding of one to two hours or more.

The government initiated scheduled load shedding across the country to ration power on July 19.

While the major cities witnessed one or two hours of regulated power outage, rural areas have reportedly suffered load shedding up to 12 hours a day.
