City life of Dhaka dwellers became sluggish due to low difference between day and night temperatures coupled with cooler winds and dense fog.
Bone-chilling cold is disrupting the daily life of city dwellers, although Dhaka is not facing a mild cold wave that has been sweeping over the northern region of the country.
The lowest temperature of 12.5Celsius was recorded in the capital on Thursday while sun was visible for only few hours in the day.
The winter chills is likely to continue for next two days, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
Meanwhile, mild cold wave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Dinajpur, Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Jashore, Chuadanga and Kushtia and it may continue, Met office said.
Night temperature may remain nearly unchanged and day temperature may rise slightly over the country, Met office said, adding that, due to reduced differences between day and night temperature, feeling of moderate to severe cold condition is likely over north, north-west and central part of the country.
About the synoptic situation, BMD said that ridge of sub-continental high extends up to West Bengal and adjoining area and seasonal low lies over South Bay, extending its trough to North Bay.
In its daily forecast, Met office predicted that weather may remain dry with partly cloudy sky over the country. Moderate to thick fog may occur over the country during midnight till morning and it may continue till noon at places.
Night temperature may fall further in the next five days, BMD said.
