BB resets banking hour for Ramadan

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has fixed the office hours from 9:30am to 4:00pm for all scheduled banks in the country during the month of Holy month of Ramadan.

However, people will be allowed to make banking transactions from 9.30am to 2.30pm, according to a circular issued by the central bank on Wednesday.

For bank staff, there will be a break of 15 minutes from 1:15pm to 1:30pm for Zuhr prayers.

The office and banking hours will return to the earlier time after Ramadan, said the notice.

Clients in the country are commonly allowed to settle transactions between 10:00am and 3:30pm. And operational activities of banks have to be closed by 5:00pm each working day.

Ramadan is scheduled to begin on Mar 24, according to the sighting of the moon.
