Some bank branches open today

The Bangladesh Bank has ordered commercial banks to keep some of its branches open on Thursday to ensure smooth financial transactions of the Hajj activities.

The central bank issued a notice in this regard on Wednesday.

According to the notification, for the sake of proper Hajj management, the relevant branches and sub-branches of the banks related to Hajj activities should be kept open with limited manpower from 10 am to 5 pm by ensuring adequate security.

For the public interest, the Bangladesh Bank has issued the order using its powers given in section 45 of the Bank Companies Act.

Thursday will be a public holiday on the occasion of Buddha Purnima.
