The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has decreased the price of edible oil by Tk 10 per litre due to a decrease in its price in retail market.
TCB fixed the new price of edible oil at Tk 100 per litre from next Wednesday, said a press release on Monday.
However, the prices of lentil and sugar remained unchanged at Tk 70 per kg.
TCB said that its sale activities for the month of June will start from next Wednesday.
This month 2 litres of soybean oil, 1 kg sugar and 2 kg lentil will be sold among one crore TCB family card holders at subsidised prices.
The TCB increased the price of edible oil by Tk 10 per litre on May last year, selling for Tk 110 per litre till Sunday last.
Earlier, the government decreased the price of soybean oil by Tk 10 per litre and palm oil by Tk 2 per litre ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
As per the revised prices, the price of bottled soybean oil is Tk 189 per litre and loose soybean oil Tk 167 per litre.
The price of palm oil has reduced to Tk 133 per litre.
Last month, TCB stopped selling sugar and only sold lentils and oil. Although it has announced to resume sale of sugar this month, it is still uncertain whether sugar will be sold in all regions of the country.
