Vietnam's national index of industrial production in May increased 3.9 per cent against the previous month and 8.9 per cent year on year, according to latest data released by the General Statistics Office (GSO).
In the first five months of 2024, the index increased 6.8 per cent year on year, said the GSO.
During the cited period, the processing and manufacturing sector went up by 7.3 per cent while the electricity production and distribution sector expanded by 12.7 per cent, reports Xinhua
The water supply and waste management sector increased by 6.3 per cent.
The mineral exploitation sector reported a year-on-year decline of 5.2 per cent during the cited period.
The index of industrial production in the five months increased in 55 localities nationwide and dropped in eight others, said the GSO.
