HC, lower courts to operate virtually till Aug 5

Judicial proceedings of the High Court and lower courts will be conducted virtually on a limited scale till August 5 as the government has imposed strict lockdown to curb the spread of coronavirus infection.

Mohammad Saifur Rahman, spokesperson and special officer of the Supreme Court, said that a full court meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain on July 23 with the participation of judges of the Appellate Division and High Court Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court.

It was unanimously decided at the full court meeting that till August 5, three judges of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court will hold hearing on urgent matters virtually on writ and civil, criminal, company and admiralty and pass interim orders.

The meeting also decided unanimously that all the officers and employees of the Supreme Court should be vaccinated by July 31.

Further decisions in this matter will be taken at the next full court meeting after August 5, the official said.
