Man held with 9,000 Yaba pills at Dhaka airport

Airport Armed Police Battalion on Wednesday arrested a Saudi Arabia-bound passenger with 8,950 pieces of illegal Yaba pills at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

The arrestee was identified as Saddam.

Ziaul Haque, additional superintendent of Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBN), said Saddam was supposed to smuggle these amphetamine pills on a SalamAir flight to Dammam of Saudi Arabia.

“Our team detected the drugs inside his checked-in luggage during routine checking,” he said.

“During the primary interrogation, the accused confessed of collecting 8,950 pieces of Yaba pills from a person in Cumilla and was supposed to carry it to another person at Dammam city,” Ziaul Haque added.

A case will be filed against Saddam, he further said.
