Bar Council gets ad-hoc committee

The government has formed a 15-member ad-hoc committee to run Bangladesh Bar Council, a statutory autonomous body that monitors and controls the lawyers in the country, till June 30, 2022.

The Law and Justice Division has issued a gazette notification in this regard on August 3, an official release said.

Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwar said the ‘Ad-hoc Bar Council’ was formed by the power given by the Paragraph (8) of The Bangladesh Legal Practitioners and Bar Council Order, 1972 (President’s Order No 46 of 1972).

The Attorney General will act as the chairman of the committee. The members of the committee are senior advocates Eusuf Hossain Humayun, Abdul Baset Mazumder, Syed Rezaur Rahman, Mokhlesur Rahman Badol, HAM Zahirul Islam Khan (ZI Khan Panna), Shah Md Khasruzzaman, Md Qamrul Islam, Qazi Najibullah Heru from Dhaka Bar Council, Mojibul Haque from Chattogram Bar Council, AFM Ruhul Anam Chowdhury Mintu from Sylhet Bar Council, Kabir Uddin Bhuiyan from Mymensingh Bar Council, Pervej Islam Khan from Khulna Bar Council, Md Yahia from Rajshahi Bar Council and Md Abdur Rahman from Sirajganj Bar Council.
