The son of a martyred freedom fighter has sought the Prime Minister’s intervention to set his land free from the clutches of some locally influential people.
Mohammad Hanif Mia, 58, made the appeal to the premier at a press briefing on Friday, said a press release.
He alleged in the release that 10 months ago locally influential Sajib Bepari in collaboration with Mobarrak, Motin, Rajib, Alamgir and Jamir Ali grabbed his five-katha land at Jhauchar in Shakta of Dhaka’s Keraniganj as he refused to pay a huge amount of extortion money.
A general diary has been filed with the Keraniganj Model police station regarding the matter, but not steps have been taken so far, it said.
On top of that, Hanif Mia said, the officer-in-charge of the police station told him to file a case in Dhaka.
Hanif said the land grabbers have filed a counter diary against him and there are several other complaints against them.
However, Sajib Bepari denied all allegations against him.
His father Abdur Rashid and 25 other freedom fighters were killed in a battle at Tetulgastola in Ghatarchar of Keraniganj on November 25, 1971, he said.
