RAB arrests six with stolen garment goods worth Tk 6cr

Members of Rapid Action Battalion have arrested six members of an inter-district gang of thieves with stolen garments cargo worth around Tk 6 crore.

They were arrested from Taltola area under Narayanganj’s Bandar police station on Saturday.

During a raid, RAB recovered the garment goods along with two covered vans and one private car from the gang’s possession, said RAB-4 Commanding Officer Mozammel Haque in a press briefing.

The arrestees are Sirajul Islam, 27; Md Jahir, 40; Md Joni, 24; Jomir Khan, 40; Nur Jaman, 58 and Tabarok Hossain, 39.

With the assistance of van drivers, the gang used to steal around 35 to 40 per cent garment goods from covered vans heading towards Chittagong Port for export, RAB said in the briefing.

After stealing the goods, they used to lock back the vans as before and sell them to share the money between them.

From intelligence, RAB came to learn about the inter-district thieve gang’s involvement in the incidents.
