Agriculture Minister Dr M Abdur Razzaque on Thursday said there is no shortage of fertiliser in the country.
“We have enough preparations till next boro season..., there will be no problem with the fertiliser,” he said, joining an online national coordination and consultation committee meeting on fertilizer from his ministry conference room.
He said strict supervision and monitoring will be imposed by the government on fertiliser distribution system to avoid any crisis with this farm input.
Dr Razzaque, however, told the meeting that the agriculture and the industries ministries will continuously work in a joint effort so that the farmers can buy fertiliser at fair prices as per their need.
Chaired by the minister who is also a convenor of the committee, the virtual meeting also was attended, among others, by Industries Minister Nurul Mazid Humayun, State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder, chairperson of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture Ministry Matia Chowdhury, Senior Secretary of the Agriculture Ministry M Meshbahul Islam, Industries Secretary Zakia Sultana and other committee members.
Country’s overall demand of chemical fertiliser for 2021-22 fiscal year was ascertained at nearly 67 lakh tonnes.
